The story
Summit Point opened in 1969 with a single track, and it never stopped growing: a second course in 1996, a third in the mid-2000s and, in 2009, a fourth that began life as a skid pad. The third, the Shenandoah Circuit, 22 turns and 3.54 km (2.2 miles) in its full layout, has as its signature corner a replica of the Nürburgring’s famous banked Karussell, banking and all. So the park has two carousels: its own, Turns 6 and 7 on this poster, and the copy of the German one a short way off.
Framed, the park’s first circuit hangs in one piece: the long main straight, the hairpin at Turns 1 and 2, the Chute leading to the Carousel, and the newer course tucked in beside it. The track where it all began, now on your wall.
