The story
For nearly fourteen years, from June 2010 to January 2024, this was the lap at Los Arcos: 3.933 km (2.44 miles) and fifteen numbered turns, run clockwise. Then the works began: Turn 6 was rebuilt, the slow back section was replaced, and the circuit grew to 4.313 km. The lap on this poster can no longer be driven in Navarre. It lives on in sim racing, where one of the best-known online racing simulators has offered it free to every subscriber since 2024.
Before the track, the ground was farmland: the project took in about 160 hectares (395 acres) of rain-fed fields on the edge of Los Arcos, a village of about 1,200 people, beside a small river the builders had to leave a 15 m (49 ft) strip of space for. Navarre had no racing circuit of its own, and its fans had to travel hundreds of kilometers to see a race. The project was announced in 2007, the regional government stepped in to build it, and it opened on June 19, 2010, certified for testing by the fastest cars in the world.
It is two circuits in one. The lap opens with an 800 m (half-mile) main straight, 15 m (49 ft) wide, about four highway lanes, that ends in a flat-out right-hander that keeps tightening as you commit to it. Then the track turns on itself; the second half is slow and twisting, with half a dozen corners taken in first gear, so tight that one rider said it reminded him of a go-kart track. And it rises and falls as it goes.
The poster keeps that original lap as it was raced: fifteen numbered turns and no names, because its corners were only ever known by number, the old slow Turn 6 still in place and the shorter layouts in a muted line. Heritage, the vintage clubhouse edition, suits the archive plan of a retired layout. A lap that no longer exists on the ground, still whole on your wall.
